STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) has been shaped by the brilliance and perseverance of countless Black scientists, engineers, and innovators. Their contributions have paved the way for groundbreaking discoveries, technological advancements, and life-changing solutions.

As we continue celebrating Black excellence in STEM, we want to hear from you! Who inspires you in STEM?

Black scientists, engineers, and innovators have made a profound impact across disciplines. Here are just a few names that deserve recognition:


Dr. Marie Maynard Daly (1921–2003) – A pioneering biochemist who made significant contributions to understanding the impact of hypertension on arteries.


Dr. Shirley Ann Jackson – A physicist whose work in telecommunications led to innovations such as touch-tone dialing and fiber optics.


Mark Dean – A computer scientist and engineer who co-invented the IBM personal computer and holds multiple patents in computing.


Dr. Kizzmekia Corbett – An immunologist who played a crucial role in the development of the Moderna COVID-19 vaccine.
